It'll probably hurt sales bad. After all, people are dumber than sheep and the TV folk have a vested interest in scaring the beejeebers out of everybody.
Of course they'll carefully explain why you can't catch the flu by eating fried chicken, but they'll do it in the TV version of small print to avoid accidentally reassuring anybody.
