You say 2 scoops,2 quarts each,is this sweet feed ie molasass in it? probably not used to that hot of feed. If horse was working, but isn't now it is not able to motabalize it. Sounds like too rich of feed and too much. The amish probably fed whole or rolled grain. Just a thought from some one who has had work horses.
