Generally I don't wear gloves, but do on some occasions. I started wearing them this year handling fertilizer because I got tired of that in cuts on my hands, and the hang nails all the time.... Otherwise, if I'm into a lot of grease, or the parts washer, I use a product called Zep Glove. It's basically a moisturiser you apply before you start that works into your hands. IT prevents oil and solvents from working into your hands, and also prevents your hands from drying out and cracking when using solvents like varasol.... and then your hands clean up easily afterwards too.
