You dont have to use them every second, but oils and cleaners etc., are very well known carcinogens. Once you get used to the idea of having a few extra tools sitting on the fender or whatever, like an open pocket knife for instance, you get by really well using the gloves. Also rubber handled screwdrivers work better with gloves than the hard plastic handles.

I've watched a few folks with their ego pride exposed, come up and say things like " gloves are for sissys" and stuff like that, but a quick smile and no verbal reply really gets them.
