If it's the rear seal, it will have to be split, but that's not too tough of a job. Working on the steering motor isn't too tough either. IH used to have a change over kit for the hyd couplers so you can plug 'pioneer' type fittings into them but I don't know if they are available anymore. They work pretty well, you just push the hoses in to plug them in and give them a good jerk to get them back out. Whether or not you want to convert just depends on how often you plug hoses into it.
