buy small to medium framed Herefords and Angus, they will have the best feed conversion, fastest turn over on finishing and will produce the highest quality meat. 23 acres is pleanty to raise the size herd you are talking. You can feed ear corn, not ground for the momma cows but without grinding your feed intake most likley will be too low for finishing properly.
