If you mean it is burning up voltage regulators AND distributor ignition points, there may be a short in the generator's field circuit, making it overcharge, out of the control of the voltage regulator.

Check the charging voltage at the battery (with an ANALOG meter). It should not exceed 7.4 Volts.

Or, do you mean it is burning up the points in the VOLTAGE regulator?

Also, is the system still correct, as-OEM, (+) ground?
