Bad day for Detroit 8V71....Pics included

The old semi developed a popping noise coming out of the stack. It sounded like a air compressor pumping air. It is an old Detroit 8V71 two stroke. I found the cylinder that was dead by pulling of manifolds and finding some raw fuel. First thought was bad valve or valve spring. So we pulled the head yesterday to find that part of the piston broke. When that broke it banged all around till it went out the head. Before going out of the head it bent a valve so more work. Not like us farmers have enough already!! Erik
