Open one up sometime. They are not rocket science and they do work loose.

Just a little threaded cap, a spring and the sealing washer.

Yes, I agree that they have to be on there, but a guy doesn't have to go bonkers just because they dribble/leak a little. Just remove the cap and give 'em a turn. Back in business.
