If its new then call the person who sold it because they shouldn't pop off if running correctly. I have never seen an expansion tank on one but I have seen one that blew out when the pop-off valve didn't work right. Took out the roof and landed in a neighbors yard quite some distance away. Please don't adjust the thing it could cause it to blow the tank right out from under you. Walt
