The key is lubrication. Sealed bearings are "lubed for life" which in my opinion means when the lube fails the bearings life is over. Grease fittings are a main positive factor in long life. The early IH bearings were bushing type, with high wear and more friction. I prefer relubable (fittings) on ball type bearings with good seals and trash guards/shields on them. JimN
