Keep in mind I'm just giving neigborly advice, not veterinary advice. Sounds like your calf has navel ill, and/or joint ill like you said. If you want to treat it yourself, get some long acting antibiotics(vet will tell you what to use) and get some Banamine to give that calf. The Banamine will help with the swelling, unless it is too far gone. I have used this with success myself if you catch it right away. Good luck.
