First of all its spelled hydraulics. 2nd the 30 and later series had a constant running-live transmission hydraulic charge pump.
The 10 and 20 series would loose the low pressure supply to the high pressure pump inlet once the small reservoir about the high pressure pump ran dry. If the clutch pedal was depressed for any period of time during high flow hydraulic loads.
A 4230 is certainly no more expensive than a 4020 console diesel. Or a console gasser 4020 with a combine engine swapped in. Plus it has diff lock and a nice quiet cab.
