Corrosion produces electrical resistance. Current flow through resistance generates heat. Enough heat conducted from corroded contacts into a fuse element will melt it and a blown fuse results. Can happen when fuseholder connections aren't clean, bright, and tight! Stick in a fuse, turn on the load for a while, then feel of the fuse. It shouldn't be hot (don't burn your fingers).
