Another wierd find!

We recently got a older Ford 6000 Commander Diesel in the shop from auction. No one wanted it, yes it has a Select-o-speed in it. Some of the gears were out, my first thought was the torque limiting clutch. After all the tests,and digging through the old shop manuals, i procedded to do the band adjustment. On band 1 the adjustment screw would not bottom out! After some deep thought and wonder, i got to the top inspection cover. When i opened it up i found band 1 completly disassembled and floating around like a dead cod, seal surface was very good, and found the shunt in the bottom of the trans. Makes one wonder why that happened. She is a neat unit and will be going into paint tommorrow. Remember when always in doubt....Disassemble it. DTURKE
