I have a JD 70 gas that has been weak for years and finally decided to overhaul engine and give the old girl a new life. I got the head off yesterday and then took off flywheel cover to see if there was much end play in crank and discovered that the flywheel is cracked around center bolts and runs almost out to thick part on the edge on 2 sides. Picture posted on JD page. Maybe that is the cause of the noise i've been hearing lately, She was starting to rattle like a diesel. As they used to sing on Hee Haw, if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Merry Christmas to all, and don't forget to say a prayer for our troops. Chris
