Canadian computer and phone hacking law ???

I know this is off topic but it wouldn't be the first time here on the YT site. Let's say that an individual has "hacked" into your personal files in your home computer by somehow obtaining your password through a variety of means that are apparently available. Is there a law that deals with this? Are there documented cases where actual charges have been laid? The same question would also apply to hacking into cell phone accounts to obtain phone numbers called, etc. This question relates specifically to Canada however comments from anywhere else are welcomed.
