Thanks for the advice. I will check first chance I get (Thursday). I have a gut feeling from your answers that there"s a shear bolt holding the clutch pressure plate to the shaft that goes into the transmission, and that bolt broke. I looked in both the service manual and parts manual (great expanded views) and neither show one, but it makes sense a bolt going through the shaft would be there to hold the pressure plate. I can"t see it from above, I"ll try to see from underneath the tractor when I"m getting home before dark thursday. I will post then. Thanks for your help- it would be great if the fix is this simple! thetiler
