Like Tractor Sam replied, it was commonly done in Europe during WWII. There are plans available all over the place. Somebody from the Mother Earth News built the system to run their electric generator that has a Continental flathead gas engine. I want to do it with a Model AA truck I have - some time. From what I've read - it works best with a long-stroke, low-compression gas engine - which makes tractor engines perfect.
