The military guys are getting paid weather they are
rescueing or doing something else. The rescue can be
considered training. The helicopter guys have to fly so
many hours a month anyway to maintain their flight
status . Not free but a fixed cost.
I do think the climbers weren't as aware of the weather
as they should have been. I was aware of an
approching storm on the west coast and I'm in NY.
