I was at a estate farm auction where they were selling a 706 with a non-factory ROPS.

The auctioneer announced that the tractor purchaser would have to sign a "hold harmless clause", releasing the estate from any unforseen future damage claims if any. I've heard the same mentioned when a PTO shield has been removed.

I used to rewire antique light fixtures that I would resell in the shop. Now, I just cut the old wires, and inform the buyer that they need to have it done by a professional. Less to worry about down the road.
