: : : : I found an Empire Tractor, it's a 47 model with a Jeep engine/trans. Anyone ever seen one before? What can you tell me about it? What is it worth? : : : Please help if you can!! : Scott, the following paragraph is from one of my books. hope it will help you. ( 1946- The Empire Tractor Corp., Philadelphia, Pa. announced its 40 hp. Empire tractor Model 88. This was powered with a 4-cylinder 40 hp. Willys-Overland engine and fitted aith a trannsmission transfer case claimed to be the same as was used in the jeep. The frame was built on the conventional lines of an earlier period when channel iron and companion construction were common. In 1948 Model 90 came into production. This had the same general appearance as the model 88 and had the same power but made use of lower transmission speeds. Relatively few tractors were sold and the company soon encountered financial difficulties sufficient to cause it to close its doors a couple years later.) I could not place a value on your machine but would venture to say that its a rare item. The picture thats in the book shows a pretty nifty looking little machine. Good luck Clutch.
