Why purchase a gasser if driving long haul? The V6 diesel Passat can move out with the best of them. 180HP factory stock when tuned to Europe specs. More of course with a little work. The 1.9 four cylinder TDI diesel can be cranked up to 160HP stock. Electronic TDI engines up to and incluiding the 1.9 can have the computer controled injection pump replaced with an early mechanical unit. They make a great engine to swap into other vehicles or equipment.
