You can sure get what you pay for with any of those aftermarket parts and it's sad that's the only choice sometimes for some so have to make do with them. One guy recently was real happy when we could get him some green tranny gears for about a 1/3 of of OEM prices. Yep they were foreign made but looked really good when they came in and quiet and working well so far. If the parts look inferior or something wrong just refuse them right then like you said and keep looking is about all you can do. There are reasons why it became too costly to reproduce "quality made in USA parts" here and no one to blame but ourselves and our fat cat politicians and tree huggin lawyers. I'm not pickin on other lawyers yet only the tree huggin ones lol.
