From your description, I'm guessing it's a DC as they are the only model I know of that had the front axle ahead of the radiator and a hand clutch.
Look on the left side of the engine block where it bolts to the transmission case; the serial number should be stamped on the flange. (You might have to scrape a little paint.) When you find it post for DC Tom on the Case forum; he can give you a mini history.
