I agree with the others about checking the starter driver first. If it's not that pull the valve cover off and see if valves move or pull a plug and see if it has compression or pull engine cover and see what else you can see wrong inside engine? You never answered me if it was for sale either? A copy of a I&T JD-16 shop manual that covers the 520-730 might help you also.
