did almost the same thing on an amc amx one time.wanted to install a new throwout bearing when i installed a new clutch,had the new bearing sittng on the dash.installed the new clutch got it all reassembled.went to start it up and there was the new throwout still sitting on the dash.was a little more than mad.took me 1/2 as long to take it apart and reassemble it with the new bearing the second time. you are not alone in this type of screw up. bill m.
