You need to get ahold of a copy of Alan Condie's Case Album. It has several pictures of L series lifeboat tractors that show more detail than the photo David posted. If you can't find the book, call me at (406) 454-8758 and I'll see if I can't photocopy the pages and send them to you.
(I've had the book for about 20 years and I'm not sure where I bought it anymore.)
