OT- Dead Topaz

Never saw one die this way. After about 18 miles of running 55 mph, oil light comes on with some engine noise/vibration, shut down engine. Temp normal, oil level Full- changed oil and filter about 2 weeks ago, no leaks. 2.3L 1992 4 cyl, less than 75,000 miles, no smoke. I 'suspect' the oil pump gave up/sheared, any ideas? Thanks in advance!
