From my limited experience, burning a field does nothing to control weeds. Mowing the field will choke out the majority of weeds and spraying in early spring will take out the rest. Contact your local Coop for specifics on what you need and the best time of year to spray. I waited until March last year and the Coop wouldn't spray it, said it needed to be done in February...so I mowed all summer. : -)
