If it was a 60 amp instead of a 50 would work. I had an electrician that did all the electrical for a large complex for university students hook up a welder for me. He put the plug in right on the power pole and wired it to the main 100 amp breaker. He told me that if there ever was a problem the main circuit breaker would trip. I should have been clearer, I meant a 60 amp would work. If the welder is drawing more than rated amps it might already be wrecked. Sorry for the confusion. Dave
