Yes, I noticed that years ago when they came out with the thermo paper. It works when heat is applied from the printing mechanism of the cash register. Yes, it would be a good idea to make a copy and don"t leave it where there are fluorescent lights (somehow it seems to fade it faster). He,he, now I can just see when the exchange of the item says, need receipt. LOL
