Either you have a restriction to the free flow of gasoline somewhere between the fuel tank and the carburetor's float bowl, or you are losing spark.

Before draining gas from the carb, and other hazardous procedures, check for spark at the spark plugs as soon as it dies.

Either use a spark tester, or take a spare spark plug, open the gap to about 3/16", and ViseGrip it to a good ground, and connect one of the spark plug wires to it.

If it still has a good HOT spark after it has died, and won't start, you can rule out the ignition system, and move on to the fuel system.
