You can call a relay a solenoid and not be wrong. All depends on who's dictionary you're using. Mechanical language connotes a solenoid as a device that converts electrical energy into mechancial movement, whereas electronics language will tell you a solenoid is an electrical conductor wound like a helix.
Either way, you're fine. Go to NAPA and ask for a solenoid and they will probably hand you a muffler.
