They just turn to cattle loose! They will "root up" the turnips themselves (and eat the greens also). The guy who owned one of the fields said that thier noses will be black from all the digging they do to get the turnips. I have fed some turnips to my goats and I cut them up so it is easier for them to eat. My wife's dad plants a bucnh for his goats (nothing close to this amount, though!). He stores them in a root celler and cuts up a few every other day or so. They keep most of the winter.
