I think the current equipment used by municipalities to pickup leaves is the next Generation of this type of Machine. There used to be a company called Giant Vac that had a unit you towed behind a dump truck . I think now there is a company called ODB that builds many different models, some include self contained boxes . Someone at a village some place probably used to be a farmer that used one of teh units you are talking about and created a new industry
