Tractor Battery

I have a 1968 Ford 2000 3 cyl. diesel. I'm wondering that if I drain all of the old water and acid out of the battery and put all new acid back in, will it make my battery better. I've had it on charge for over 24 hours on two amp. trickle charge and it didn't help. Cost of a new one is almost $150.00 and am just trying to save some money. Thanks in advance
