12 (+)positive is hooked to the ground on the 6 volt tractor.I usually try to find a bolt or something to clamp the jumper cable to to. and I like to attach that cable last.
12(-) negative is hooked to the starter cable where it is bolted to the switch.But be careful, especially if there is any gasoline anywhere besides inside the system..Sparks are very likely to occur .and BOOM!
