I have a reddy heater that burns kerosene or diesel or fuel oil. Kerosene is supposed to burn cleaner but costs a lot more. I use diesel and haven't noticed any black smoke or fumes. I'll probably have to clean the internals more though. You can get kerosene a lot cheaper if you go to a bulk fuel supplier. Same thing with varsol. The difference between #1 and #2 is winter or summer. The suppliers tanks usually have winter fuel in them early so it won't gel. Summer fuel gives more power and better economy in engines.
