whats the scoop on poop?

Ok, wise men and women, What is better for sandy soils. Spreading layer poultry manure on frozen ground and incorperating into the soil in spring, or piling then spreading in spring and immediatly incorperating. Previous owners have always spread in winter and plowed under in spring, but doing some research i found that spreading the manure on frozen ground will lead to 80% loss of the nitrogen. What have ya all found to be best practice. My yearly clean out is in winter months so not many other options
