The 2003s are especially notorious being nothing but problems. Ford replaced thousands of those engines while kicking and screaming over every one. Lots of electronic and injector issues. Make sure you are checking your oil daily - if its over full you have leaky injectors. More then one owner has found a COUPLE extra GALLONS of deisel in the oil pan.
