If you're talking about the discussion about using a wire brush and shining a light at different angles, then yes, most Ford serial numbers can be hard to read due to them not being stamped very deep in some cases or being full of crud and paint. In some cases, most notably the diesel models of the x01 series, there are no serial numbers to read because the battery leaks acid onto the numbers and after 50 years of that the numbers are gone!
