My dad used to sell heavy duty hydraulic mowers for tractors. The instructions for mounting said to use teflon tape only and not pipe sealant. These machines operated continuously at 3000 psi and high flow rates around 30 gpm'. One note, teflon tape is for pipe thread only. O-ring or JIC flare fittings shouldn't need any sealant. Make sure to wrap it opposite the way it threads on so it doesn't unwrap and keep it back a thread or two and you shouldn't have any problems. I've never heard of teflon tape plugging hydraulics unless there was a lot of it in there. Just my experience. Dave
