Might not have really been that experimental at all. Lots of John Deere 5010 & 5020 tractors were converted to a V8 Cat engine with back mounting plate and ran in wheatland areas. Lots of them got bought later at auctions and hauled down to Mexico too. May not be many left now. The JD could handle that with the same power train in 6030 later behind a 175 HP 531 engine and some converted even later to a 619. I bet a engine that big in a Ford really stressed the thing out and nothing but scrap metal was left?
