My JD 5020 did the same thing.It also has a Roosamaster pump. I replaced fuel filters, and the fuel pump with no success. It was the bleed fitting on the top of the pump plugged with very small pieces. This fitting is connected to a line that goes to the tank. The fitting is a check valve with a glass ball. I cleaned it and was on my way again, but it plugged again. Now I am facing a pump rebuild. If you keep running it there is a chance of major pump failure. I don,t think it will happen right away.
