Good Used Tranny Gear Or Repair?

I found my 4th & 6th gear on my JD60 had four broken teeth. A friend will give me another that has only one bad tooth so repair wouldn't be as expensive. I have never had a gear repaired. Would the cost of a good used one be cheaper, equal, or more than repairing the tooth?
