Went through my carb 231 2 years ago, same as yours. You say the float is adj. right and the needle/seat is working. If those are right, I'm not sure where all the extra gas is coming from. I had very similar problems to yours, and ended up setting the float a little lower than spec. The new needle helped a lot too. If I remember the seat is not replaceable in your carb. So a new needle will only help so much if the seat is trashed. It chokes out when you give it throttle, thats sounds like the accelerator pump. Is it from lack of gas or too much when it chokes? Make sure the accel pump is sliding right. Rick
