This week is children's education days at our old engine club. Northern Michigan Flywheelers. I get to tell about and demonstrate balance beam scales. I weigh the whole class and adults as a loaded grain truck and then just the kids as the empty truck. I use wheat as my choice of grain. 60 lbs is a bushel. Our big scales are Fairbanks Morse 20 ton scales. The smaller farm scales are a double beam set. It is a lot of fun to talk to the kids. The fourth grade classes from all of the scolls around here come and spend the day with us. It takes four days to be able to fit in all of the classes. Do any of your clubs do something like this? John
