John Deere Engines

Was talking to a guy the other day, who claimed to have experience farming with John Deere tractors. In the course of the conversation he stated that John Deere put out an engine in a tractor that was two cyclinder, in-line, horizontal mount that had one cylinder larger than the other.
None of this was new or exciting except for the different size cylinders.
Did this happen or was this guy pulling my leg. One of my legs does seem to be a bit longer than the other now.
