What you say may be true! Is your's a 1985 and completely stock? After all that IS what he was asking about. I never said they couldn't be altered to be good engines.All I said was,and I will stand by it, a stock 460 out of a 1985 pickup is going to really dissappoint anyone who thinks just because it's big,that it is powerfull.I'm really more a Ford man than Chevy,but if you put this pick-up in a pull against an '85 Chevy pickup with a 350 (also stock)I don't think there would be much difference at the end. 1985 was NOT a good time for Ford power or technology. Again, my answer is to the exact question he asked,not 460's in general. I agree with the other poster,if he is serious,buy a crate 460 that is built to run,not meet smog requirements in 1985! My opinion is that he sees big cubes at a dirt cheap price,and a weekend in the garage swapping and head out and pull away from everybody next pull. Simply ain't gonna happen! Either spend the big bucks or stay home. Just the way it is in pulling.
